Movember

I am currently growing a certain degree of facial hair in support of Movember – a charity event specifically to support charities for men. Here is my face:

The object of the exercise is to raise money by growing a moustache (that’s a ‘mustache’, my American friends) in the month of November – I donate my face for 30 days, you donate money to sponsor my face. Simples.

I’ll share photos of my face along the way, because I do have a pretty face.

Calories count!

I just did a little middle-of-my-first-week weigh in, and it looks promising! Not going to reveal anything yet – too soon, too soon!

But it does seem that a little bit of exercise and not overeating has a positive effect. The previously mentioned pizza is being stretched to at least 3 meals – I could probably have managed it in one not so long ago…

Here’s an interesting factoid – in one slice of Dominos Veg Supreme, there are approximately the same number of calories as a bowl of pasta. And I feel that pasta is the more filling of the two options.

That said, in a fully prepared Pot Noodle, there is something like 450 kCal – which is going on for 3 slices of pizza/bowls of pasta, and I don’t feel that it seems like that much. This is the reason a lot of people overeat – the things they DO eat do not satisfy them, so they crave more. And more. And more.

So I’m now on a quest to find a tasty, satisfying, healthy, moderate calorie diet – and by diet, I mean style of eating, not cutting everything out! It’s back to ‘everything in moderation’ again!
